* Know Your State, Activity Book, 2015, Gibbs Smith Pub. and The Utah Journey Textbook, 2014, Gibbs Smith Pub.

• Keep a notebook for class.
• Work with groups in research and presentations.
• Quizzes will be given to check for your understanding of the material.
Requirements and Expectations:
• Have the necessary supplies and be ready to work when the bell rings.
• Produce quality work on all assignments and on time.
• Display integrity, honesty and politeness. Cheating will be subject to a loss of credit you’ll contact your parent.
• Attend class regularly. After an excused absence, check to see what make-up work needs to be done.
Homework: Projects will need time outside of class to complete
Hall Passes: As per school policy, two hall passes per term per class are allowed. If a student needs an additional hall pass and has used all of his or hers he or she may take a tardy for that day and leave class.
Grading Procedures:
• Academic Grades are based on an accumulation of points. Points will be totaled and converted to a percent then a letter grade will be assigned. The following grade scale will be used:
100-94 A 93-90 A- 89-87 B+ 86-83 B 82-80 B- 79-76 C+ 75-73 C
72-70 C- 69-67 D+ 66-63 D 62-60 D- 59- F
• Grades will be posted every two weeks so students and parents may monitor progress Students may have extra help before school or may obtain assistance through After School services.
Discipline Policy and Citizenship:
A good citizen follows rules and contributes to the success of the class. Breaking classroom rules will lower citizenship grades.
H Honor -Prepared daily, contribute to the success of the classroom
S Satisfactory -Participate and follow rules most of the time
N Needs Improvement -Poor participation, disruptive, and/or inattentive to rules, and/or 3 tardies.
U Unsatisfactory -Repeatedly fail to follow class rules, cheating and/or vandalism, 5 tardies
Appropriate classroom behavior is critical to effective learning. Any behavior that prevents learning is considered inappropriate. For a safe, productive learning environment:
• Be prepared daily with notebook, pen/pencil, and novel
• Be in seat working by the time the tardy bell rings.
• Be respectful to the teacher and others through language and actions.
Consequences will occur when a student breaks a rule or law:
1st offence: Warning, teacher conference, tracking started
2nd offence: Teacher consultation, move seat, buddy room
3rd offence: Tracking sent to office, parent notification, consequence assigned
Additional offences: N or U in citizenship, administrative involvement: parent conference, detention, court referral
Tardy Policy:
3 Tardies = N in citizenship, referred to office and lunch detentions 5 Tardies = U in citizenship, referred to office and lunch detentions
